MP. Wafa’ Bani Mustafa participated in a two-day conference in London to identify practical ways to address violence against women in politics from 19-20 March. More than 50 speakers, including party leaders, ministers and experts from the UN Women, Amnesty International, the National Democratic Institute and CARE International have discussed new measures to combat violence and intimidation against politically active women. MP. Bani Mustafa presented a historical overview of the political achievements of Jordanian women and the quota system and the Jordanian Parliament’s support for the political progress of women in terms of hosting the headquarters of the Coalition’s Office, forming the Women’s Committee, and forming the Women Caucus. She also pointed to what women has achieved in terms of repealing Article 308,  criminalizing harassment, and the new amendment of the Protection against Domestic Violence law. She concluded by talking about the challenges faced by women, which hinder their political progress, and the Arab Convention drafted by the coalition which condemns political violence.
