MP Intisar Al-Jabbouri, Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Woman, Family and Children, at the Iraqi Parliament, participated in the Workshop regarding Protection from Domestic Violence Law, which was organized by the Iraqi Al-Amal Society in Beirut from 22-24 July. The workshop was attended by 12 members of the Iraqi House of Representatives from different political blocs, two representatives from the Secretariat-General of the Councils of Ministers, the Legal Advisor of the Iraqi Parliament, two experienced judges in the personal status law, a representative from the National Security, a number of activists from Civil Society Organizations, and a number of representatives from the Media.
Hanaa Edwa, the Secretary General of the Iraqi Al-Amal Association said: “The workshop target is to discuss and elaborate the bill of Domestic Violence Law, which I hope that the Iraqi Parliament will vote for its passage. It also aims at increasing the interaction with female and male parliamentarians and the consultants there, so they will be totally convinced to adopt the bill, and defend it.”
