The Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development (ECHRD) and the Dialogue Forum Foundation released a report entitled “Women’s Participation in Parliament” which showed that women’s representation in 2020 elections increased by 30%. The report showed that in 2015 elections, there were 308 female candidates representing 35% of total candidates against 518 female candidates in 2020 elections representing 65% of the total candidates. This indicates that the representation of women in 2020 elections increased by 30% over 2015 elections. It also indicated that the number of female candidates in the lists in 2020 reached 261 compared to 112 in the 2015 elections.
