H.E. Bani Mustafa met in her office on Tuesday 3/3/2020, the Ambassador of Women, Security and Peace in Canada, Jackie O’Neill, together with Her Excellency Donica Pottie, the Ambassador of Canada to Jordan. O’Neill expressed her admiration for the drafting of the National Plan for Women, Security and Peace developed by the National Commission for Women and said: “I have seen the national plan and found it strong” and asked what steps might be taken to push the government to implement the Women, Security and Peace plan.
Bani Mustafa indicated that the plan requires a lot of efforts and that many Jordanian young women want to be recruited into the Jordanian armed forces, gendarmerie and public security, but the opportunities for them are scarce. She said: “This matter is a loss for the entire nation, not just for women.” O’Neill also asked about the parliament’s role in activating the plan. In this regard, Bani Mustafa pointed out that the Women Caucus visited the Chief of Staff a few months ago. During the visit, women MPs focused on the necessity of recruiting more women in the Jordanian armed forces.
