Amon News: The steering committee of the Women’s Economic Empowerment Conference, which was held recently in the Dead Sea, discussed the recommendations and governorates’ action plans emanating from the conference.

This came during the committee’s meeting today, Wednesday, at the House of Representatives, in the presence of the Chairperson of the Coalition of Women MPs from Arab Countries to Combat Violence against Women, Attorney Wafaa Bani Mustafa; the Chairperson of the Women Caucus, Dr. Sabah Al-Shaar; representatives of the Steering, Executive and Technical Committee of the Conference, and representatives from UNWOMEN.

Bani Mustafa said that the ability of women to participate effectively in the labor market, whether as an employee or as an employer or as  a project manager reflects the general concept of women’s economic empowerment.

She stressed the necessity of following up the outcomes of the conference, especially the recommendations related to each governorate, and the emerging proposals that were presented for what would advance the status of Jordanian women in a way that contributes to their economic empowerment through clear decisions.

Bani Mustafa pointed to the need to continue the approach to empowering women through many positive initiatives, noting that the Economic Empowerment Conference presented many issues related to economic empowerment of women, which is “a national concern in light of an unprecedented and dangerous decline in the rates of their participation in economic activities.”

For its part, the slogan indicated that the House of Representatives has supported all initiatives that support women in all fields, especially those related to their economic empowerment, pointing to a set of perceptions and proposals that were put forward during the conference, which she described as “buildable.”

She drew attention to the role of the private sector in promoting the role of women and the advancement of women in all fields, in a way that contributes to the support of the family and society, calling for the attendees to follow all the outputs in order to achieve clear concepts that in turn constitute a compass of action based on positive and participatory networking.

In turn, the analyst of the economic empowerment programs for women, Hazar Asfour, presented the axes of the governorates action plans to enhance the economic participation of women in the governorates, the most prominent of which is to enhance women’s economic opportunities, benefit from information technology, integrate gender in a partnership between the public and private sectors, and enhance access to productive and knowledge assets, in addition to benefiting Among the reforms and initiatives offered by the government as well as providing a possible environment for women’s work.
