The Coalition of Women MPs from Arab Countries to Combat Violence against Women condemns the violations committed by the “Zionist entity” towards the residents of Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, following decisions issued by Israeli courts ordering the eviction of Palestinian families from their homes in the neighborhood in attempts to ethnically cleanse the place that is an integral part of East Jerusalem in 1967. The coalition also condemns the Israeli occupation forces’ invasion of the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque and their assault on worshipers during the holy month with the aim of Judaizing it and changing the status quo by the extremist Jewish groups with direct support from the occupation’s security services. It also condemns the brutal attacks that took place recently on Gaza Strip and targeting infrastructure, media buildings and civilians taking into consideration that 40% of victims are women and children. The coalition stresses the need for the occupation to respect the private property in the occupied territories, and stresses that East Jerusalem is still part of the occupied Palestinian territories and is subject to international humanitarian law, which the occupation has violated with its continuous brutal and settlement practices for decades.
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights has stated that these violations amount to a “war crime”. The coalition stresses that these violations are a provocation to the feelings of millions of Muslims, Arabs and human around the world, and that these attacks are a flagrant violation of human rights and international covenants. The coalition stresses the need for the international community to move urgently to stop the repeated Israeli attacks against the brotherly Palestinian people and Al-Aqsa Mosque.
As these violations coincide with the seventy-third anniversary of the Palestinian exodus (Nakbah) and the displacement of its people, the coalition affirms its support for the brave and valiant Palestinian people, and calls on the coalition to support all efforts aimed at reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, enabling the Palestinian people to establish their independent Palestinian state on the borders of 1967 , and its capital is Jerusalem.
