(The National Democratic Institute) NDI is an independent international non-governmental organization operating in Jordan since 2003. NDI’s work in Jordan supports democratic practices and institutions through its work with the Jordanian parliament and government, civil society organizations, and youth and women activists. The National Democratic Institute in Jordan implements the following programs: strengthening parliament, enhancing women’s participation in politics, and enhancing youth political participation. The National Democratic Institute cooperates with Jordanian universities and more than 330 public schools throughout Jordan in providing courses and activities in the field of civic education, and the development of youth to become active citizens in their country. Since 2007, the National Democratic Institute has been providing active and intensive training programs for women candidates for the parliamentary elections. Their program is not limited to training workshops, but also includes online training and individual counseling for the candidates.
